CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

UI Design

I did a lot of market research of various approaches to mobile visual novel experiences, which aided in the user-flow for the wireframes I then created before starting on the UI Assets. With the UI I aimed for a comic-book stylisation, with speech bubbles for character dialogue, with a rough paper-like texture to the menu backgrounds.

UI Design

I began by working alongside our designer Liam to figure out all the needed screens and UI elements needed for the prototype. Then moving onto creating the user flow diagrams which were presented to Arizona, our client, during the first weeks of development, alongside the proposed vertical slice we'd be tackling, following client and team feedback I then moved onto creating wireframes.

When working on UI Design, I also aided in revising some elements of the proposed game title and script with our game designer Liam. This was due to the script being based on real-experiences, it listed specific nationalities and featured real-world languages for the antagonistic characters which we early on pitched to change to a made-up group of people and language instead.

This title also features heavy and sensitive topics for educational purposes, the proposed project initially had no warnings for this content. I created a trigger/content warning to ensure players would be made aware of the nature of the content featured in the title, and also helped implement this on game start-up with a checkbox feature to ensure the player wouldn't just tap past the screen by mistake.
